Join us for a candidate forum for the Public Service Commissioner runoff election. This commission is the governing body responsible for determining how much Georgians pay for their utilities, such as gas, electric and telephone. They determine which resources (coal, gas, solar, etc.) public utilities can use to produce energy, and they make important decisions regarding the state’s investments into renewable energy.
Only a few states allow the public to elect Public Service Commissioners; the race for one of Georgia’s five seats will be decided January 5. The Incumbent Lauren “Bubba” McDonald will face challenger Daniel Blackman in the runoff on that day.
Candidates will have a chance to share their ideas and plans for Georgia’s energy future.
The forum will be moderated by Sally Sears, CBS46. It is hosted by the League of Women Voters of Georgia, and the Leagues of Women Voters of Atlanta-Fulton County, Central Savannah River Area, Coastal Georgia, Dekalb County, Gwinnett County, Macon-Bibb County, Marietta-Cobb County, and Rome-Floyd County.
